Pao is a PhD candidate at Princeton University in politics, investigating the reproduction of and resistance to global hierarchies. Pao is interested in international and comparative political economy, labor and economic history and experienced with both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Pao works on reform proposals of the international financial architecture in light of the climate crisis. His main focus is the role of multilateral development banks in the global energy transition. Previously, Pao worked at Innovations for Poverty Action Ghana, the OECD Statistics Directorate, and the University of Cambridge. He studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics in Manchester and Paris, and holds an MPhil International Relations from the University of Oxford.
